Feeding them bread

There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? John 6:9

The crowd was huge.  5000 men, not counting women and children.  And they were hungry.  All the food the disciples could find was a boy’s packed lunch - five loaves of bread and two small fish.  But what were they among so many?  Jesus took the boy’s offering, gave thanks and distributed the bread and fishes to the disciples who distributed them among the people.  When all had eaten, the disciples filled 12 baskets with the left overs.

We live in a world filled with hungry people.  The Church is called to feed them.  The task seems overwhelming and our resources limited.  But this passage teaches us little is much in His hands.

When we commit our talents and resources to the Lord, no matter how small they may be, He can use them to feed the hungry.

After all, He is the Bread of Life.
