Encourage ourselves

David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6

Things could not have been worse for David.  His family had been kidnapped. All his possessions had been taken.  His own men were so distraught they talked of killing him.  Yet, the Bible says David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.  How?  By remembering God’s faithfulness to him in the past and His promises for the future.

As a Christian we can encourage ourselves in the Lord our God.  We can remember what the Lord has done for us in the past and His promises for the future.   Just as David could remember how God delivered Goliath into his hands, we can remember those times God has delivered us.

Just as David trusted in God’s promise he would be king, we can trust in God’s promise that He will never leave us or forsake us.
