A Good Friday

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21

The penalty of sin is death.  All have sinned.  Every last descendant of Adam’s race has missed the mark.  Except one.  Conceived of the Holy Spirit, Jesus had been tempted in every respect as we are and yet without sin.  The time had come.  If man is to be saved, Jesus must die.  It is the final act of a plan made in heaven before the world began.

The scene is horrific.  The cross is cruel.  There is blood.  There is pain.  There is sin - yours and mine.  In those terrible moments Jesus took upon himself all our sins.  He exchanged His righteousness for our sins.  He traded places with us.  He died that we might live.  It was the worse of all days and the most glorious of all days.  God’s love had triumphed!  Salvation had come!

Because of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross we remember today as Good Friday!
