Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Everything in life and this world tells us that we have to put ourselves out there. We have to push and promote ourselves. We must make ourselves significant. Winston Churchill reportedly said that history would be kind to him because he intended to write it. That is precisely the attitude that we so quickly develop.
Scripture and the Lord Jesus teach us that we are to humble ourselves. We are to get our eyes and our thoughts off of ourselves and on to Him. We ought to think of others more than we think of ourselves. The truth is that we should just forget about ourselves, our wants, our needs, our place, what people think of us and see about loving and promoting Jesus.
If we honor Him, He will take care to give us whatever honor we need. He will bless us if we will die to ourselves and live to Him.
