Promises Kept in Bethlehem - TE

Promises Kept in Bethlehem
A promise made in Eden (Genesis 3:15). Whoever the seed of the woman is, he engages in spiritual warfare and prevails.
A promise made in Ur (Genesis 12:1-3). Whoever this seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is, this seed will have a far-reaching, worldwide scope of blessing. In this seed, all the nations and families of the earth will be blessed.
A promise made in Israel (2 Samuel 7:8-13). David’s seed will have an everlasting kingdom. Kingdoms rise and fall, but this will be an everlasting kingdom.
The opening of the New Testament is about the birth of a baby.
Who is this seed of the woman? The arrival of this little baby was the arrival of the seed of the woman (Luke 1:30; Galatians 4:4).
Who is this seed of Abraham? The arrival of this little baby was the arrival of the seed of Abraham (Gal 3:13-16). Through faith in Christ, we become children of Abraham and inherit the promised blessings. The wild olive tree has been grafted in and we can partake of the root and fatness of it.
Who is the seed of David? The arrival of this little baby was the arrival of the seed of David (Luke 1:31-33). The kingdom has been inaugurated, but not yet consummated. He reigns now, but He will return to earth and on his vesture and thigh a name is written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Through Jesus, the seed of the woman, we have victory over sin, death, and the grave. We overcome the world through faith. If God is for us who can be against us? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? We are more than conquerors.
In Jesus, the seed of Abraham, we are blessed with all spiritual blessings and are already seated with Him in heavenly places. We are no longer dead in trespasses and sin, no longer without Christ, no longer aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, no longer strangers from the covenants of promise, no longer without hope, no longer without God in the world. Now in Christ Jesus, we who at one time were far off, are made near by the blood of Christ.
Through Jesus, the seed of David, we have already been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God's dear Son. We are citizens of another kingdom. While we suffer now, our suffering will soon end. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. The saints will judge the world and angels.
Born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago, was the seed of the woman, the seed of Abraham, and the seed of David. Not only that--He was the Seed of God—God's only Son.
I'm thankful for Bethlehem, for it was there God kept His promises.

Christmas - KK

Galatians 4:4-5 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”

Christmas is the act of Christ coming to us and becoming one of us so that we could come to the Father and become like Jesus Christ.

Hey I'm glad he came! - DN

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. John 15:22
In my devotions this morning, on this Christmas Day, a somber truth grip my heart. The human race has always been in great trouble. In its depravity, it seems as if we are sinking deeper and deeper. The answear to mans need was Christ coming That starry night in Bethlehem.
In Frank Capra 's classic " It's a Wonderful Life " George Bailey thought life and family would be better off without him. While thinking about suicide and through a process, he entered a world where he never existed. The effect it had on his family, friend and future.
Because of a divine visitor, he came to the conclusion, just how blessed he really was.
This year at Christmas time, I have watch and listen to people. And to hear them you would think, they didn't even know that CHRIST came into the WORLD.
After preaching a while back, I mention from the pulpit, The Claus wasn't real. You would have thought I cussed or blasphemed or something. ( A dad came to me and said, It was all good until you said what you said about ... He said, I was wondering how I was going to explain to his child what I had said.. I thought, "Tell her the Truth "
This has always been a part of our world, but now it's become a part of our churches..
They act as if Christ had not Come into the World...
Lets take a moment and ponder this truth, What if Christ had not Come
Paul in Ephesians 2:12 alluded to this truth, "without him or being in a world without Him "
1. We would be without Promises: Ep 2:12a
2. We would have no Prospect: 2:12b (having no hope )
3. We would be without Peace: Ephesians 2:14 (he is our peace )
4. We would have no Priest: Ep. 2:14( a go between) He hath reconciled us to God
5.) We would have no Pathway: Ep 2:18 (he is our access )
Hey I'm glad he came!
....they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is being interpreted God with US

What's on your mind - AS

Facebook asks, "What's on your mind, Alan?"
Well, what is on my mind this morning is revival! I am so very thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for what He has done for me this week. My heart cannot be more full than it is at this moment. I NEEDED THIS, even if no one else in our church did. The Bible says, "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (Ps. 37:4) and He has done just that! My desire is to have a closer relationship with Him, to have a closer walk with Him, and to be used by Him. Those are my greatest desires. I believe with all of my heart that if we seek these, then all of our other desires and needs of this world will fall into place, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Mt. 6:33). NOTHING is more important than putting Jesus Christ FIRST in your life.
I realize that this is Wednesday night and most of my friends will be worshiping in their home church, but if you do not have somewhere to go tonight for service, we would love to have you come and visit with us for the final night of our Christmas Revival. You will not be disappointed in the preaching that the Lord has given us this week! If you have never been saved, it sure would be a blessing for you to come and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior!!

Discernment - AG

Discernment
I Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
God’s people, those that are spiritual, exercise discernment. They take their concerns and ideas to the Lord to find His will. They check out their thoughts by the Spirit and the Word of God.
They are not making decisions based on what the world thinks. They are not concerned with the opinions of those that do not know God.
God’s people refuse to be pressed into this world’s mold. We do not accept their way of thinking. We do not adopt to them but seek to be directed by God through His Word.
The lost world can not understand this way of thinking. They see only what is in front of them. They do not see things from a higher point of view. Sex simply becomes a bodily urge. The lost world can not see God or His purpose in something that appears to be so natural.
So if you are born again, then let the Holy Spirit guide and direct your thoughts through the Word of God. Do not merely try to fit into a world that does not know God or love Him.

Power not talk - AG

Power not talk
I Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
God’s work is not a matter of sophisticated words but the power of God. You don’t have to sound so impressive, but what is important is whether or not you live effectively what the Word teaches.
People know what they should be doing but refuse to do it. They can talk about it, but they will not walk it.
Instead of living what God teaches, they follow the world’s philosophy. They could talk, but their talk didn’t seem to be what they lived.
They talked about faith but didn’t live in faith. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit to experience His power in our lives.
Rev AG

Glory in the Lord not men - AG

Glory in the Lord not men
I Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
The Lord Jesus is to be our glory. He is the One we are to boast in and on.
We get so hung up on personalities. We brag because we know someone. This early church was personality crazy. They had formed cliques around their heroes. I am of Paul, and others were of Apollos. This attitude does not come from the heart of God, nor is it the attitude He wanted them to have.
Then it seems that many today want to be sure to be highly rated among their brothers. There is not much of the idea that we are servants but rather that we should be served.
Here we have a command. Do not glory in people. Glory in the Lord. It is God that does the real work. Our glorying or boasting is foolish. It is like the hammer boasting about what it did or can do. The hammer is nothing without the hand of the knowledgable and capable carpenter. The tool can not boast of what the craftsman can do.

When Enough is not Enough - DN

When Enough is not Enough
2 Kings 13:17-19
This passage here has always caught my attention. How many could declare guilty ?
I) The Triumph at Hand: vs 17
Open the windows and shoot....THE ARROW OF THE LORD'S DELIVERANCE
When it comes to the enemy, I'm grateful that victory is possible.
You got to see it:
You got to want it:
To many stumble and fall at the hands of the enemy without they even firing a shot.
During the Vietnam War the Vietnamese through their booby traps and jungle tactics and many casualties had discouraged the heart of the American forces. They were having an enormous amount deaths without the American shoulders even seeing the enemy.
But Once they saw the enemy, and that they were not invincible, their moral heighten and the enemy suffered.
Seeing the enemy and having a plan is a must.
II) The Temptation at Hand: 17b-18
To Stop before its time to stop. For reasons unknown, the king stopped smiting the arrows to the floor after the third time.
Two suggestions on why this happen.
1. He didn't hear what the Prophet was saying. He heard but he didn't hear. Jesus often cried, he that hath an ear, let him hear. After preaching Sunday after Sunday, it's evident that many who listen are hearing, but yet not hearing.
2. He didn't have the Heart to keep smiting the floor. He thought it was enough.
This is the great curse of the end time church.
I've prayed enough
I've given enough
Ive read enough
Let me ask, when is enough, enough?
III) The Tragedy at Hand: 19
Although he saw some victory, he didn't see the victory he could have seen. Reckon what we are missing out on by not going beyond the limit.
I had a pastor that warned me as a young preacher many years ago. He said, at the Judgement Seat of Christ, when our works are placed in the fire, we will see the price of our laziness.
There will not be a soul then, who will not wish they had done better.

Be still and know that I am God - DN

PSALMS 46:10
Be still and know that I am God
For that individual that's constantly on the move and busy about with the chores and adventures of life, stillness can be be a curse.
But for the child of God whose times are in Gods hand, it can be quite rewarding.
There comes a time when instead of being busy we must be still.
A wise old preacher told me once, before there will ever be a standing there must be sitting.
1. Stillness and knowing God are important.
2. Stillness and knowing God are inseparable.
3. Stillness and knowing God are inspirational.
My the help that's received by that servant who left the business of the crowd to still away and sit at the feet God.
Mary fell at his feet and said with tears and a broken heart, Lord if you'd been here, my brother would not have died!
He saw her tears and said, lets go get your brother!
That which you are after, that seems unreachable. In fact it has gone from bad to worse. Have you tried finding your place at the Lord's feet with tears?
The poet said it well,
THERE IS A PLACE I GO TO REST AT THE FEET OF GOD.
THERE IS A PLACE WHERE I AM BLESSED AT THE FEET OF GOD

The Forgotten Beatitude - DN

The Forgotten Beatitude
Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.(Luke 7:23)
I'm a bit hesitant to post some thoughts from my devotions this morning. Maybe it might be a help to someone.
Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Vance Havner referred to this as the forgotten beatitude.
The thought itself, bewilders me. Being offended in the one who gave so much to prove his love and interest for me.
I'm sad to say, I've had some times in which I've had some issues with Him. It might not have been His person but offended in His promises or path.
Have you ever been offended?
Some simple thoughts:
1. Christ is Aware of our Displeasure
2. There's no Containing it when one is Offended. The displeasure will reveal itself. I've walked up on people that were offended in me, and saw that something wasn't right.
3. There are answers for this plight.
a. Confess it, quit denying and acting like it doesn't exist.
b. Command it, show it who's in charge.
4. Cultivate a mindset to prevent this from happening. I'm talking about being offended in Christ.

In Others History

In Romans History it was documented the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ,
In Greek History it was documented who Jesus was,
In Jewish history it has been documented Jesus as Son of God and  their rejection of Him,

And we should seek Him and Call on Him today!!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7

He is just a prayer away.

Your call / prayer to Him bids you to the Throne of God's grace. Once you are there enter in, speak, pray, ask to be saved.

In the morning

In the "morning" we are reminded of beautiful things about God:

His joy is new (Ps 30:5).

His faithfulness is new (Lam 3:23).

His justice is swift (Zeph 3:5).

His ears are open (Ps 88:13).

His will is revealed (Is 50:4).

His provision is ready (Mt 6:31–32).

For this cause - DB

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph. 3:14
For the cause of Christ, Paul bows his knees on the cold, damp prison floor and prays to God on behalf of the church at Ephesus.
For the cause of Christ, many around the world are persecuted today. Imagine one of them bowing in their prison cell and praying for us.
For this cause, Christ went to the cross. For this cause, Paul prayed. For this cause. many have given all. What will I give for the cause of Christ?

"I am a sinful man!" Peter

The ministry - DN

Just a few thoughts surrounding ministry.

In these many years of ministry I've discovered a few things.

1. Just when you think you know it all something happens and proves you don't.

2. The minister's eyes must remain on the reason you are ministering. This should be Jesus, for if you dont, you will quit.

3. The blessings far out weigh the burdens.

4. Jesus abideth faithful.

5. The blessing of the Lord it maketh rich.

The Comforter - DN

.
The Comforter

John 14:16
Romans 8:26

It was a good day when I learned the Holy Spirit was not an it, but a person. He is very interested in us that are saved and even ministers to those that are lost.

It is my conviction, without his work in the heart of a person there will be no salvation or even real service after salvation.

Jesus promised his disciples prior to his departure, I'm going to send you another comforter. This comforter's identity is the Holy Spirit.
1. He Abides: He is in it for the long haul. Someone might say well I can't feel him and sense him,yet that does not mean he is not there.
2. He's Aware : the Scriptures states, he who searches our heart knows. When we don't know, He Knows!
... He helps and intercedes for us.

3. He Assists : when we do not know what to pray, he says it for us. Could it be we do our best praying when we feel it's our worse praying? ... He helps and intercedes for us.he helps us with our infirmities, he helps us with our prayers and he helps us with service.
4. He Agonizes :His intercessions are with groaning and words that we cannot express.
I am preaching on the Holy Ghost at the church. Here's a brief thought in which I am grateful for. Rest assure, we are not on this journey alone. We have a comforter and he's the Spirit of God,

502nd Reformation Day - ZW

On this 502nd Reformation Day, we commemorate the sovereign act of God in the use of a monk with a mallet to burst open the doors for the common man's access to and understanding of the Bible. Great doctrines weren't birthed out of the Reformation but were pointed to and lived in light of.
Why should we pay close attention to the Reformation? Many reasons, but one line in a familiar hymn sums it up. "Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love." Scripture alone! Grace alone! Faith alone! Christ alone! To the Glory of God alone! We need to be reminded or taught for the first time what the Gospel is all about. Martin Luther was a prominent character in the Reformation, but he wasn't the hero.

Jesus Christ our Lord is king!

Soli Deo Gloria!

BEATITUDES - DW

Personal experience - AG

Personal experience
John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Jesus had spoken to the Samaritan woman at the well. She had believed. After believing she had gone into the city telling others what Jesus had told her.
She invited all to come and know a man like no other she had met, ever. He had to be the Messiah, the Christ. Many believed because of her testimony. They came and met Jesus.
After hearing the truth from Jesus himself, many were converted, saved. They told the woman that they had come because of her influence but now knew the truth personally. They believed. They knew who Jesus was.
You may have people in your life that have told you of Jesus, but you will have to believe personally. It can’t be anyone else’s faith that gets you right with God. No one can believe for you.
Have you personally believed in Jesus? Have trusted His death on the cross for your salvation? If not be careful to know that you are personally responsible for your faith, your faith will determine what happens, not the faith of another.

Rev AG

Fear is the opposite of faith - AG

Fear is the opposite of faith
I Samuel 21:10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
David flees in fear. He will act like he is crazy to save his life. He is trusting his own abilities and devices to protect him. He has to pretend to be someone that he is not.
Fear has torment. Perfect love casts out fear. In moments of doubt we can forget to trust and start to doubt. When we begin the downward spiral of fear and doubt it only gets darker for us.
In the moment fear comes knocking we need to run to the Scriptures and grab on to truth. We need to focus our minds so that we do not let fear take over and torment us.
You have a God that loves you and cares for you. He is with you in the darkest moments if you are truly born again.
If you are not saved then you need to trust Christ today.

God creates individuals -CMS

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭
God creates individuals, God creates them as babies in the womb of the mother. God determines a babies gender prior to birth. We have no right or privilege to ”change” our gender. Especially when it is a young child who cannot make that “decision” for their self. There is no such thing as transgenderism it is only sinful mankind who has been given over to a reprobate mind.
I’m not against adults that struggle with these issues. There are clear answers we find in God’s word and I would love to pray for you and share what the Bible says. You are welcome where I Pastor and I promise we will love you to Jesus.
As Christians we need to stand for what is right and be willing to stand against the evil whiles of the devil.
This is sickening and we are not seeing it published because the MSM for the most part is the devils puppets and they don’t even know it.
AMERICA WAKE UP!!!

FEELING GOOD

If one does not love and forgive others, he will never feel loved and forgiven by our Heavenly Father. “Matt 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 [If not], neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

THE GOLDEN RULE - DW

THE GOLDEN RULE

Is God’s way to have a life that is blessed and free from contempt and hatred for others. If you are not willing to forgive and love others, God will not forgive you; your life will be miserable(Matt 6:15).

Unforgiveness will rob you of life‘s greatest blessings.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matt 7:12

The great tragedy in modern Christianity - KK

The great tragedy in modern Christianity is not necessarily error in the church but rather that so few people actually recognize it. Secular philosophy and cultural sentiments have numbed down the spiritual senses of the saints to such a degree that we have settled for substitutes. We may not dance around the golden calf, but we’ve come to accept its presence in our midst.
A.W. Tozer said, “So skilled is error at imitating truth that the two are constantly being mistaken for each other.” Lines have disappeared in this post-modern world. We know longer make our boundaries in the proverbial sand; instead, we cross over back and forth until all distinctions and discernments are washed away. We have dismissed absolute truth and challenged this generation to order their lives without knowing what God has declared. Truth is missing but its absence is not the saddest part. The saddest part is that no one knows that it is missing, or perhaps worse…no one cares.
As a result, we have substitutes. We have to settle for crooked politicians because moral ones cannot be found. We settle for cheap and vile entertainment because it’s convenient with our lifestyles. We settle for a spirituality that lacks true depth and meaning because, to be honest, it costs too much to have anything else.
May God give someone the gall in these last days to come down from the mountain and destroy the calf.

BIBLE ILLITERACY

What will make our churches great again? Obedience to the third leg of the Great Commission which is teaching. Like children who are taught to read and write, God’s children must be taught to rightly divide His Word. Disciples are made by learning this skill. see Matt 28:19-20

UNCHANGED HEART

Truth can change your thinking, but truth unexperienced cannot give you a new heart: a new birth, a new nature. The religious Pharisees may have thought like Abraham, but Jesus said they did not act like Abraham, but rather like the devil (John 8:30-59).

Why do more preachers not surrender to be missionaries? - AG

Why do more preachers not surrender to be missionaries?
I see so many young people called to preach in the USA. They want God to use their lives. They are hungry to serve. They study and train but with the view towards pastoring an existing church in the USA. Why do so few surrender to be missionaries? If the majority of the lost are outside the USA, why do so few surrender to go. I want to propose a few possible answers to the question.
I believe, as many have said, that we have complicated the call to missions.
In William Carey's opinion, it wasn't complicated at all. This famous missionary, called the father of modern missions, said, "To know the will of God, we need an open Bible and an open map."
Hudson Taylor, the famous missionary to China, would share the obvious need of gospel preachers and then say, "It will not do to say that you have no special call to go to China. With these facts before you and with the command of the Lord Jesus to go and preach the gospel to every creature, you need rather to ascertain whether you have a special call to stay at home."
William Booth, who founded the Salvation Army, said this about people who claim to have not been called. "'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there. Then look Christ in the face -- whose mercy you have professed to obey -- and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world."
Jim Elliot, who was killed by the Auca Indians in Ecuador, said: "We do not need a call to get involved in world missions – we need a good swift kick in the pants."
Why do we feel like we have to be drafted, basically forced against your will to leave home to serve God overseas? Many tell me that they would go if God called them. What does that mean? How would or does that happen?
We were given clear commands as God's people to go, to be witnesses to the uttermost part of the earth. Is the command not enough? Is it that we do not spend time waiting before God with the Bible open to know His will?
A second reason might be that believers in the USA live such isolated lives. They never see the world. They hear the missionaries present their work but think only in terms of giving them money, financial support. They see preaching as pastoring a church or being an evangelist. Our pulpits often do not emphasize the Great Commission. Our families are focused on raising good godly children, but little consider that there are families around the world that have never heard.
I believe the challenge would be to lift up your eyes to fields that are white unto harvest. There is no reason for us to be so self-centered, local-focused, that we ignore the world.
The last reason I would mention in this article might be that young people see no clear path to the mission field. They feel the need. They would like to serve but do not know how. There is help available if you want it. You can go. You can make a difference. Rise and obey God.
