Getting our attention - DB

And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush. Ex. 3:4
Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law. As he led the flock to the backside of the desert, he saw a bush burning with fire, but not consumed. Moses turned to see this great sight. When he did, God spoke to him out of the midst of the bush.
There are many ways God tries to get our attention. If we will take those moments and turn aside from all the distractions of this life, we might just hear the voice of God speaking to us.

What a great truth for those journeying to Zion - DN

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Joel 2:31
What a great truth for those journeying to Zion the City of God.
I) The Scope of this Promise: (whosoever)
Not for a few, elect or even the Baptist. (Although I am a Baptist from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet and in the depth of my heart.) We do not hold a monopoly on the promises of God. Whosoever. ( so who ever )
I have never had a problem with that word whosoever.
The scriptures are full of it.
Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be
saved!!!!
I have no problem believing in a whosoever gospel!
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the
LORD shall be delivered:
Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I
confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
John 3:16 echoes it For God so loved the world...that whosoever.....
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be
saved.
II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but
that all should come to repentance.
Revelations 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that
heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let
him take the water of life freely.
It takes in the rich and poor
The strong and weak
The Young and old
The Jew and Gentile
The whosoever here are those who are in need and need delivering.
II) The Secret of this Promise: ( call on the name of the Lord )
My what a wonderful name to speak. My what a privilege to speak it.
In the Scriptures, there are conditional promises and unconditional promises.
Two things seem to stand out to me here,
1. The Caller-
2. The Called-
The actual effort given, the calling if you please, is what puts into motion the means to the end. It's the rippling effect if you please.
We are invited to call -
Jeremiah 33:3
We are then responded to for calling
Jeremiah 33:3 stated I will answer thee
III) The Substance of this Promise: ( shall be delivered )
Shall be Saved
Shall be Answered
Shall be Protected
Shall be Helped
Shall be Encouraged
IV) The Strangeness revolving around this Promise.
If he's promised deliverance to those that called, why is it, they and we run to every other source for deliverance ?
Why is it, He's usually the last resource that's sought?
Hey go ahead make that call. The Lord will answer.

No other gods - AG

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, And his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; And beside me there is no God.
God continually claims to be the only God. The nations may have gods, idols, made with hands, but they are not God. God calls Himself the King of Israel. He is the redeemer. He is the Lord of hosts or the heavenly hosts, the army of angels and unseen beings.
I think as you read this it needs to establish firmly in your heart that there is only one God. So all the religions of the world are just that, religions. They do not have true gods. There is only one. Outside of the God of the Bible, there are no gods.
This is why the missionary life is required. We must carry the message of the God of the Bible to the world. He is the only one. What He says is true. All other religions are false.

Idols - AG

Isaiah 45:16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: They shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.
There is only one God. That means that anyone that worships or makes an idol will be confused. They will be embarrassed. An idol has no real power. The images are the products of their creators. The creator is always more significant than the created.
How can anyone expect anything but confusion when they look to a man-made object for worship. The day will come when you will stand before God. No matter how much you believed in your little god, your idol you will be embarrassed and ashamed because they are unable to help you with your sin, your eternity. You will be confused because you deceived yourself into believing that the idol could do something.
Turn from your idols. Turn from your small gods to the one true God. Believe in the one who created you instead of the one you created.

What Do we say ?? DB

I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee. Acts 26:2
If you want to know what is important to someone just listen to them talk. We tend to talk about those things that matter most to us. Paul had spent 2 years in prison. When he finally was given the chance to speak before King Agrippa, he used this opportunity to share his testimony and talk about Jesus.
We are commanded to be witnesses for Him. When we share our testimony we bare witness to what Jesus has done for us in our life. At the end of today, will those we speak with know how important Jesus is to us?
